The biggest celebration of women in Africa, Femme Fest 2024 is back! Taking over SOL Oniru by Boxmall this Good Friday.
A hallmark of Women’s History Month, Femme Fest 2024 is the biggest and boldest cultural moment For Women, With Women, By Women, Africa has ever seen.
Femme Africa’s premiere live event, Femme Fest is the annual celebration of women that aims to empower, educate and entertain young African women. With a vibrant and eclectic atmosphere, the festival brings people of all demographics together in a unique space, specially curated for the safety and pleasure of women.
Treating guests to an intentional experience that centres the artistic expression of women in culture, Femme Fest will accommodate over three thousand women at the popular coastside destination, SOL Oniru. Building on the success of previous years, Femme Fest ’24 retains its full day of live music performances, insightful panel discussions, commerce and in-person activations.
With the festival on its third edition, this year’s Femme Fest will be its biggest iteration yet, with a main stage lineup starring Ayra Starr, Niniola and DJ Dope Caesar, supported by Bloody Civilian, Lady Donli, Lifesize Teddy, Wanni x Handi, Sleeklines and many more incredible artists and DJs. This year’s musical showcase will also feature a Rising Women’s stage powered by The Orchard, leveraging compelling established artists for the audience to discover emerging talent.
Speaking further on the return of Ayra Starr to the festival’s headline billing Ayomide Dokunmu, CEO of Femme Africa notes,
“It’s a full-circle moment for Femme Fest. Ayra Starr graced our first festival back in 2021, and now, as the baddest pop star in the game, she’s returning to help us celebrate womanhood in all its glory.”
Reflecting on the Festival’s trajectory in the years since, Dokunmu continues, “her presence is a testament to the growth and impact of Femme Fest over the years.”
A crowd favourite at last year’s festival, this year’s Femme Fest will expand the Beauty Market into an extensive Beauty Experience, featuring a Maybelline New York activation, a Femme Fest Powder Room and an immersive space for the guests to shop their favourite black-women-owned beauty products.
At Femme Fest ’24, attendees can expect a diverse range of activities and experiences tailored to their needs and desires, including the School of Femme educative pillar, creative Express Stations and self-guided festival games.
These activities include Tarot Reading, Pottery Making, Temporary Tattoos, Karaoke powered by Coke Studio and Mixology Masterclasses, courtesy of Smirnoff, as well as panels in Music, Beauty and Tech, supported by The Orchard & Smirnoff, Maybelline and Microsoft respectively.
“FEMME FEST IS MORE THAN JUST A FESTIVAL; IT’S A MOVEMENT!”
Dokunmu continues, “it’s a space where women can come together to connect, inspire, and uplift each other. With our move to the beach at the new location, SOL Oniru by Boxmall, Femme Fest ’24 promises to be our most exciting and immersive event yet.”
