Ghanaian rapper, Sizz The Truth brings raw soulful energy to the world with the release of his second project, “GreySkies Are Smokescreens, Vol.1”.
As a follow-up to his first project “The Whole Truth”, Sizz further exerts his abilities as an artist keen to re-define the idea of music made in Africa.
“GreySkies Are Smokescreens” is characterized by Lo-Fi hip-hop beats, deep punchlines, and memorable hooks. The 5-track line-up takes a listener on a journey through the mind of a relentless artist; discussing hard truths about the path to success, relationships, wealth generation, and authenticity.
Sizz The Truth, formerly known as ‘Sizzle’ is an eclectic rapper/singer from Ghana and also of Nigerian descent. A stand out performer amongst the very promising new generation of young Ghana Musicians, steadily growing a strong fanbase and carving a niche for himself in the alternative scene.
Sizz, whose birth name is Osman El-Alawa Jnr grew up listening to a lot of Hip-hop and R&B ranging from The Fugees, R.Kelly, Usher, Lil Wayne, Jay Z, Nas, Kanye West, Drake, J.Cole and also a lot of Tuface and M.I from the African scene. He started rapping and writing music in primary school where he and his friends used to challenge each other in writing verses to compose songs. He eventually started recording in junior high school when he and a few friends started to take the hobby a bit more seriously than others due to a lot of positive reviews they got.
In 2016 he dropped ‘baako’, this song officially announced his name in the music scene, garnering a considerably good amount of airplay on radio and television. Later in the year, he put out ‘Show You More’, a hip-hop/jazz rendition of the late Daasebre Gyamenah’s ‘woda enda’ which was very different and intriguing at the time and gained him more traction, followed up with a very beautiful video released early 2017 which enjoyed a lot of airplay, since then he has performed on some of the biggest platforms in the country including The BAR Concert, Detty Rave 2 (Hosted by Mr. Eazi), Afrochella ’17 & ’18 and many others which have helped expand his listenership and helped him gain more recognition.
He has also collaborated with a few artists and producers including BiQo, Ko-Jo Cue, Cina Soul, Arrow, Paq, Boye ‘The Genius’, King Joey, Dj Kwamzy, Worlasi and many more.
In 2017, Sizz announced that he was working on his debut body of work called ‘The Whole Truth’ and put out two lead singles ‘Longest Round’ and ‘Show Up’ to begin the rollout for the project expected on 9th February 2018. The Whole Truth was released amidst great reviews and achieve critical acclaim due to its authenticity, diverse nature and unorthodox vibes. It debuted in the top 10 iTunes/Applemusic album charts (Ghana) upon release. Songs such as NEVER TOLD and Fatality have been featured in major apple music curated playlists.
Upon the release of the Never Told music video, Sizz got endorsed by Hiplife originator, Reggie Rockstone who once used the same sample in his late 90’s hit song ‘Keep Your Eyes On The Road’. He was also spotted at Afrochella ’18 by Popular American radio host, Ebro Darden and Hollywood Movie Star, Boris Kodjoe. The latter later went on to endorse Sizz The Truth music by posting videos on Instagram of him and his wife, Nicole Ari Parker dancing to ‘Never Told’.
