HF Music, alternative artist BOJ blessed his fans with his 5th body of work, his debut album, ‘Magic’. BOJ’s compensation for the forever and a day wait is Magic, a canon of 11 tracks and 4 bonus singles, altogether 15 amazing adventures of BOJ in his element. The album features other African artists, who are ‘lioning’ their own jungles in the music industry such as Ycee, Simi, Banky W, Wande Coal, Ayo Jay, Olamide, FalztheBahdGuy (all from Nigeria), Willy Paul (Kenya) and Lady Jay (Ghana).
BOJ revealed the nuts, bolts, and screws that brought Magic together as a cohesive, timeless piece in a chat with Radr. Magic, the first and his favourite song on the album sets the mood for the album. Although the ‘proper afro beats’ song talks about a long time away from his babe, the underlying depiction of this song is that BOJ is reconnecting with his fans through this album. In Gbe Soke, BOJ brings out his ‘bad boy self’ as he calls it, in this dark, vibely song. He refers to Balance as the people’s favourite. He collaborated with Kid Kush and Tena who is also an artist and a songwriter to bring together the deep, quality, content of this track. The 11th track of the album Aisha, as opposed to BOJ’s natural vibes is more of an upbeat song. Wande Coal who featured on this one, brought a certain flavour to this track, so that this song will not be suitable only for core BOJ fans but also for the ‘streets’. Major credit goes out to the sweet lineup of producers who made this album real magic; Majik, Adey, Kush, HOD and Studio Magic.
BOJ strongly hints of videos of songs coming from this album. Magic would remain on the mouths of BOJ stans for a very long time. Deliberate or not, this album will do well to pacify the public and keep them busy up until BOJ makes their hotline bling again.
