Subtle declarations of love and loyalty is what we are about this week. From Peruzzi confessing love for his woman to NSG’s good vibes only, here’s what we are listening to over here at Radr HQ. We think you should listen too.
La La – T’neeya
T’neeya baring her heart and echoing her commitment to her lover with graceful, sultry melodies, is the energy we love to see. The Cameroonian-born artiste infuses French and pidgin in her lyrics as she dreamily expresses her vulnerability on this R&B song.
Falling – Nviiri The Storyteller ft. KiDi
In yet another love song on our radar this week, Kenya’s Nviiri The Storyteller pairs with Ghana’s golden boy KiDi on this head-bobbing, mid-tempo song as they reel in the unfamiliar feeling of falling in love and yearning for their muses.
Tempo – Ogranya ft. Rakpo, Marti
That beat switch! The blend of hip-hop and Spanish music elements! The artists want you to ‘Keep up with da tempo’ as they deliver ‘music for your mental’ and that’s what you should do. A personal favorite, this one!
Ghana Jollof – Basketmouth ft Falz, Kwabena Kwabena
Like he did with ‘Hustle’ on the Yabasi album, multifaceted entertainer Basketmouth demonstrates his superb A&R skills with a new highlife track, Ghana Jollof. As is his tradition to pair two or more unlikely artists to create a perfect blend of highlife music and hip-hop, the Ghanaian music duo delivers a catchy hook on the Duktor Sett produced track with Falz infusing Ghanaian pidgin in his flows as they all describe their love interests.
Petite – NSG
Arguably one of the best summer jams of 2021. UK-based Afroswing group embodies their roles as the life of the party on the laid-back Petite, produced by Jae5. In their unique style, they each give visual ideas of women that interest them while equally boasting about their expensive lifestyle. Good vibes, as always!
Murda – Peruzzi
Of course, we are still on the matters of the heart, and we’re stuck on Murda by Peruzzi. Murda is a beautiful love song on which Peruzzi serenades his lover, declaring his adoration and commitment to her with a sprinkle of encouragement for body positivity.
Pay Me – Oxlade
Off his recently released EP is Oxlade’s emotive reassurance to his lover, ‘Pay Me’. He touches on the topic of loyalty while also reiterating her mesmerizing attributes. No man in his right senses would want to lose a woman with such a stronghold on his heart, if you ask me.
Stamina – WurlD ft Major League DJz, LuuDadeejay
Off WurlD’s two-single pack MMWU, is this Nigerian-South African joint that is an instant earworm. WurlD fuses Afrosoul elements on the Amapiano inspired beat as he rhapsodises the sensuality and sex appeal of an African woman.
Idi Nla – Loti
Loti has hopped on the moving Amapiano train with Idi Nla and we’re loving it. He finds himself intoxicated by the features of a beautiful woman. Produced by 9roovy, the beat capitalises on Amapiano’s signature tempered keys and segues into a more personalised sound that matches Loti’s style of music.
