Here’s what the Team at RADR has been listening to the past week.
Vanilla Bottega – Lil Kesh, Joeboy
After his chart hit “Don’t call me”, Lil Kesh is back with the song of the summer “Vanilla Bottega”.
From the first beat, this song became a fast favorite for me. It’s the kind of song you have on repeat while driving to work. He teams up with Joeboy to deliver a spectacular feel-good song. Produced by SB with themes of luxury, vibes, and soft life which aren’t far-fetched seeing as the song is named after the Italian Luxury fashion house- ‘Bottega’ and the accompanying visuals mirror these themes.
Different – Nonso Amadi, Majid Jordan
In 2020, Nonso Amadi took a break from social media promising to be back with music. Two years later, he delivered on that promise. Leading with ‘Foreigner’ and now followed by this sultry hit with Canadian music duo Majid Jordan (singer Majid Al-Maskati and producer Jordan Ullman).
Serenading the woman he hopes becomes his lover, he tells her there are many pretty girls in his life but she’s different and the one he wants. Mr Majid also adds that he’s ready and willing to break the ice in her cold heart. This song is a breath of fresh air from Nonso Amadi. It’s the second song of 2022 and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for the rest of the year.
In Love – Ajebo Hustlers, Fave
This was such an unexpected combination. In their first drop of the year which was a double-track drop including ‘Caress’ and ‘In Love’, Ajebo Hustlers aren’t holding back. They are ready to go all-in with lines like “Against you, I’ll catch a felony if love is a crime” and “Hard guy hard guy but see as I dey lose weight”.
What’s most interesting is that Fave blends in so smoothly with the duo. It really is “The Perfect love song” as described by Ajebo Hustlers themselves.
Pim Pim – Brymo
The familiarity of Brymo’s sound feels like a warm hug. This song is the 2nd track off his 10th studio album “Theta”. Diving into the layered lyrics of this song, we find Brymo egging his listener to keep on working despite the challenges and to listen to their heart, promising it’ll pay off in the end and that the inspiration will come. This song should be listened to by everyone who is stuck and about to make a difficult decision in the face of challenges.
Jah Eli Jah – Cobhams Asuquo x Bella Shmurda x Patoranking
Holy Michael, Holy Gabriel, Holy Raphael, and Holy Uriel are about to get an earful from the young Nigerians hustling and trying to earn an honest living because this song is an anthem for them.
I love how this song highlights the reality of the average Nigerian and even our prayers.
There’s also an interesting Visualizer that tells the story of Bella, Cobhams, and Patoranking. I love a good grass-to-grace story and this song does justice to it.
