Tolani is geared up for a busy period ahead. Titled TheAfrobeat Sessions, his new EP marks the artiste’s first major release in 3 years and the first in a line of projects scheduled to drop over the coming months. According to him, Sessions is “a continuous conceptual patchwork of infinite joy & black excellence.”
“It’s simple really. What I settled on is black joy. Just pure, radical black joy. In all situations. The experience is unique, ain’t it? Despite it all. My music focuses on celebrating that. No Yawa.”
The 5-song compilation consists of 2 new songs and re-mastered versions of some previously released tracks. Milla, Cracker, Quebeatz and frequent collaborator Holydope, all have production credits across the project.
A pleasant surprise is The Afro-Renaissance Art Ensemble (#TARA). Credited on all songs, it, however, remains a bit unclear if this is a new band or another standalone group.
“#TARA is an amalgamation of uncharted black force fields inspired by the ascendant masters. It is everything, but most importantly an incredible journey of self-realization. It’s our return to the Afrikan Space Program.”, quipped Tolani about the group.
