Who is Danielle?
Danielle Mbonu is a 23-year-old Nigerian-born multi-disciplinary artist. Focusing majorly on documentary and fashion photography and creative direction she has very recently delved into the world of film & Music.
After she collaborated with Skepta and Wizkid for their music video, “Energy”, which captured youth culture in Lagos and has since then directed music videos for the likes of Tems & Naira Marley. Her work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Okay Africa amongst others Danielle has a record of documenting the creative essence of her city: Lagos. Her photos, without failure, display a rich sense of youthful freedom.
What is your favorite subject to work with?
Girls and clothes. I love clothes, love fashion and love fashion photography and I love pretty girls, what better combo ?, women are so powerful, sexy, fearless but still soft and fragile, creative everything. I love playing around with looks.
Your worst subject to shoot?
Product shots, they’re just so un-natural and too overly planned.
What is the most ridiculous thing that has happened to you on set?
On a music video set I was directing, another artiste pulled up, fight broke out, chaos started the people they came with broke bottle and started fighting each other? I was shook, Nigeria just different.
