Radr Essential Vol.63; Juls, Tems, & NSG

Makossa Riddim – Juls ft Haile

This song is what you get when you mix a groovy beat with sonorous vocals. It is one of the tracks of Juls‘ album and it lives up to its name as makossa riddim. The track has a certain bounce that just wants to make you shake your head and move your shoulders gradually. Haile sings about his love interest in a convincing way over the beat.

The Key – Tems

Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems is gradually sealing her place as one of the greatest Nigerian artists ever. With each release, the artist shows her listeners that she is special. The key is a song about her, from her to us and also for us. She sings passionately about her artistry, prowess, and repute. She sings from the perspective of someone who is confident in their abilities and it is beautiful and empowering. “No one can curse what God has made” is one of the lines that summarise the song.

Trust Issues – NSG

Known for their heavy vibe-y songs, NSG replicated the same energy in this song. Only that this song has substance and the depth of its lyrical content is evident. It is easy to get carried away by the crisp beat but the song has a message. Trust issues explore doubt as a predominant emotion amongst humans. The singers creatively sing about different situations where trust issue happens.

Wayte – Duru ft Peruzzi & David

This song feels like the summer of 2018 again with Peruzzi & David harmonizing on a track. Duru is the master chef that made the feature happen and the invited artiste killed it. This is a perfect love song to share with someone you miss.
