Creative expression can take many forms, what made you decide to be a makeup artist?
I like to call myself a serendipitous makeup artist.
I didn’t think I was going to take this craft professionally since I was chasing a different passion. But my love for the art and seeing the expression of contentment and the impact it left on every face that left my chair made me want to keep doing it.
The energy was too good and I wanted to keep it that way.
How would you describe your signature look?
I would rather say I have a signature process.
If you sit on my chair, you’d hear me talk about how important it is for you to always take care of your skin. I’m not an esthetician, but over the years, I have taught myself and grown to understand the relationship between skin and makeup. As such, skin prep is a huge step in my routine before painting a face.
You’re required to create a complete look with just 5 products. What are using?
Just 5 products?! Omg!! Lol okay, let’s see.
I’ll create with a concealer, mascara, translucent setting powder, eyeshadow, and lip gloss.
What is the most hilarious experience you’ve had with a client or on set?
Lol maybe not the most hilarious, but this was a funny moment.
I was creating this editorial look on a client which required time (something we didn’t have in excess), patience, and precision.
Halfway through the first eye look, she looked at me and said, “Wow! Do we need to do the other eye? It’s mad like this o!” I literally paused, and we just burst out laughing for a good 5 minutes or more, knowing we still had to complete the look.
It’s such a moment because every time we remember that day, we just laugh all over again.
