World Art day is coming up this week and at Radr; we think that it’s never too early to start celebrating. This week on Radr essentials, the team has compiled a list of artists and their craft. We have combined young artists as well as classical works for your enjoyment.
Music
Bling- Blaqbonez ft Amaarae, Buju
Everybody brought their A-game to this track. Every verse was a delight to listen to. The track has a relaxed pace with interesting beats and immersive lyrics.
Amaarae and Buju bring their energy and amazing vocals, harmonizing in the second half of the song. Blaqbonez deserves props for his growth as an artiste especially on his new project Sex>Love.
All The Girls- Yhemolee ft YKB, Dandizzy
This song carries a very easygoing vibe full of upbeat lyrics and a catchy tune. The artists sing about their love for all the women, ready to give their love and affection to all of them. The Oliver Twist energy is delivered in a care free almost unruly manner.
Back2Back- Rexxie ft Bella Shmurda
Rexxie and Bella Shmurda are a dynamic duo on this new track they released. The song celebrates their victories now that they are successful artistes and it’s chock full of lyrics to that effect. Rexxie sings in Yoruba that the haters can’t hope to keep up with his success as it’s back to back.
Books
So Long A Letter- Mariam Bâ
Mariama Bâ’s first novel, is literally written as a long letter. As the novel begins, the protagonist Ramatoulaye Fall is beginning a letter to her lifelong friend Aissatou Bâ. The occasion for writing is Ramatoulaye’s recent widowhood. As she gives her friend the details of her husband’s death, she recounts the major events in their lives.
Mariam Bâ uses her work as a means to highlight the place of women in post-colonial Africa.
The Memory Of Love- Aminatta Forna
Aninatta Forna’s novel, The Memory of Love, juxtaposes personal stories of love and loss within the wider context of the devastation of the Sierra Leone civil war.
