Electricity by Pheelz and Davido has kept us on our feet all week however the not-so-mainstream artists are coming through for the RADR team this week. Töme, Maya, Söulaar and YKB have kept us company the past week.
San Siro – YKB
Listening to this song feels like coffee on a cold morning.
What I like is how YKB is excellent with words. The wordplay and puns in this song make for a beautiful listening experience. Here’s an example from the second verse- “I need a lawyer wey go rest my case, I need a doctor wey go cure my craze, And I fit call dre but then, It’s only you that can treat me better.”
The production of this song is stellar, it sounds like a mix of Reggae, RnB, and Pop with Afrobeats holding them all together.
Bam Bam – Söulaar
Söulaar is the first talent from Ejoya Music’s artist development program. Bam Bam is Söulaar’s debut single. He has an interesting sound and I am excited to hear more songs from him. The single artwork designed by Kodi is simple but classy. The song was produced, mixed and mastered by XtremeTheProducer.
Electricity – Pheelz, Davido
I describe the song as the All-Star song of the summer. The sheer amount of talent on this track is mindblowing. From the artists, Pheelz and Davido, to the production team which included Pheelz himself and P.Prime amongst others. And then the video was shot by Boy Director who is arguably the hottest music video Director in Nigeria right now. Electricity is giving all it’s supposed to and I have had it on repeat for days.
Can’t get enough- Maya Amolo
I found Maya accidentally and I’m so grateful for it. She is a New-york city based Kenyan Singer. I could listen to her smooth silky voice all day. “Can’t get enough” brings back memories of the good old RnB days of Janet and Teyana. I listened with so much nostalgia. You think she’s given on until halfway through the track she starts to rap. Incredible!
Nobody Else – Töme
Nobody Else is off Tome’s fourth studio album Löv. Töme is a Nigerian-French Canadian singer, songwriter and actor born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The visuals for this song gave me all the feels.
