Sempe is an outrageously infectious pop number by Bison, a new wave Nigerian singer and songwriter who appeared on the industry’s radar in May 2019.
Without the complication of a tough topic, Bison confidently calls all and sundry to kick back and relish a moment of guilty pleasures. On the track, he endorses the latest pop culture slang “Problem no dey finish”, which translates to enjoying life irrespective of the issues that are bound to surface. As such, he paints a picture of himself in the company of a sexy woman, an outstanding DJ and lots of money to spend.
Bison’s street-pop approach on Sempe aligns perfectly with the feisty instrumental created by fast-rising producer Khally, giving the song a smooth global and local balance. The 17-year old delivers most of the bop in pidgin with a few vocal embellishments done in Yoruba. With only one year into his career, Bison is gradually developing into an undeniable hit craftsman. His prior releases – “All Night” and the Lagbaja sampled “Nodo” both smashed the expectations for an industry rookie, with the latter accumulating over 60 thousand streams in its first quarter.
Sempe arrives just in time for the Yuletide and New Year festivities and is expected to be a dancefloor favourite. Listeners can go ahead to add this to all their Detty December playlists so they can bop heads and throw down their best moves with their crown.
It is also one of the many surprises that Bison has in store for his growing fanbase as he plans to be better positioned musically, in the coming year. In the meantime, add Sempe to your playlist and follow Bison across his social media platforms to keep up with his music and lifestyle.
