Happy 2021 everyone! RadrAfrica is bouncing into the new year with a plethora of engaging content, interesting insights and dynamic personal stories surrounding creatives.

 This year’s RadrEssentials is going to be a weekly gift box packed with what the RadrAfrica team is currently enjoying. We’re going to be raving about the music, shows and brilliant creatives we’re into this week. The team not only wants to share our interests, we also want to connect with readers about them (feel free to comment, don’t be shy!).

This fast-paced track with heavy drill influences is a heady combination of fast bars and thrilling rhymes. Merging street music, afrobeat and drill on this track makes it an enjoyable listen.

The Death Of Vivek Oji- Akwaeke Emezi (Book)

Akwaeke Emezi showed their mastery of the literary form with this book. The story about Vivek, queer and coming into their self, their sad death, and the devastation that follows is one that is both important and beautiful. A fantastic, riveting read.

Kissez- Sevyn Streeter & Davido (Song)

Davido shows off his R&B prowess on this beautiful little record. In little over two minutes, Davido and Sevyn Streeter paint a wonderful picture for listeners with their endearing lyrics and smooth vocals.

Renike showed off her brilliant skills this week during the #Portfolio challenge. She is a freelance artist who loves to paint black women and is very good at it. Follow her on Twitter @iamrenike

What Do You Mean? (WDYM?)- Vibez (Song)

The amazing vocals on this song gives it its addictive quality. The vocals, lyrics and beat all make any listener want to dance. The track is one where the artist praises his beautiful love interest to the delight of listeners.

This is a passionate rap song with the lyrics heavy with emotion. The rap influences on the song are very traditional and Wolei’s feature on vocals is both beautiful and adds a layer of softness to the track overall.
