Thank God It’s Friday! It’s about time too, because RadrAfrica has curated some new music for you in time for the weekend. Now, you have the making of the perfect music to accompany your weekend shenanigans with Lady Donli, Damiz and others
Busy Body- Damiz
“Busy Body” is an excellent debut for new kid on the block, Damiz. It is a flirtatious, melodious and feel good track but listeners will also notice the effortless and seamless transitions Damiz employed throughout the record as well as the interesting lyrical themes. He sings about some of his feelings while crafting a track. Listeners will be enamored by this 2000s influenced track.
Rockstar Parole- Lady Donli
Lady Donli is back with two new singles. The alté singer and songwriter is heavily influenced by early 2000s Nigerian popular music. This gives her projects a nostalgic yet novel appeal. These two tracks are different in the ways in which they explore Donli’s sound but they’re catchy and enjoyable. Lady Donli channels two personas on the two tracks and really leans into them to create the musical experience.
The Traveller- Hue
This EP is a delightful mix of alternative tracks and afro fusion tunes. III Jungle is a fast paced catchy alternative afrobeats song, the vocals are excellent and the dynamic transitions between the verses and the chorus. IV Another Light is an electro pop fusion which has a hypnotizing sound sequence with hints of trap influence.
Flights- Yotan
Born and raised in Lagos Nigeria and based in Cyprus, Ayopelumi Soetan professionally known as Yotan, is adept at warping sound to suit the mood he wants to put his listeners in. Although perfectly in tune with the Afrobeat roots, Yotan is clearly fluid with his musical arts and it is apparent in the changes in the tune of the verses and hook on this track.
