As we draw closer to the end of the year, artistes are not letting up on the good music. There will be many jams to gyrate to this #DettyDecember. Here are some of the hot projects that dropped this past week.
Slow Poison- Ogranya
Ogranya is well known for his afro-fusion lovesongs and sensual harmonies. This song is no different as the artiste blends harmonies with different pitches on this short song to tug on the heartstrings of listeners.
A Better Time- Davido
Davido dropped his highly anticipated album A Better Time last week. Packed with talented DMV features as well as other national and international talents. One of the hits on the album is Jowo, a beautiful love song where Davido shows off his signature love for harmonies and excellent sound production. Though Davido gets a lot of hate as a prominent figure in the music industry, it is important to recognise the beauty of this album as well as the effort that went into making it.
The Angel You Don’t Know- Amaarae
This amazing album by Amaarae is the perfect way to unwind. The artist spreads her unique voice and sound over several seemingly different areas of afrobeats. The songs are sensual, sexy, ethereal, and hypnotizing. Céline on the album is about how the artiste’s love interest is always in her dreams and her mind. The song is delivered in a sensual haze of gentle vocals.
Out Your Mouth- Daviestherocket & Na-ku
Na-ku is back with yet another song where he is owning his sound, feelings with a hint of cocky energy. Daviestherocket shows off with the amazing meld of sounds that accompany Na-ku as he belts out his catchy lyrics. Listeners are bound to keep this on repeat.
Poka- Wills
Wills is on a deliberate quest to drop back to back afrobeats bangers. Wills combines street music, jazz and afrobeats influences to create this song. The different paces between the rap verse and the hook of the song are wonderfully pleasing to the listeners’ ears.
YP & Azanti, Vol. 1- YP & Azanti
The dynamic musical duo dropped their new joint project YP & Azanti. The duo explore various areas of the music spectrum afrobeats to trap with their dual edged talent. Not only do these artistes work
well together, but every track they put out there is also a delightful listen. Posted up for instance has heavy influences from early 2000s R&B while Focused leans more towards Afropop.
Halle- Dj Voyst & Elhi
A quintessential afrobeats track that will resonate with lovers of the genre. The song is great for breaking out your favorite dance moves in your home and the club.
SHALAYE- Kvngose, Odumodublvck & EESKAY
This track is a fun listen that will make listeners laugh as well as dance. The song explores the mindset of the artiste who doesn’t have the patience for the lies he hears from those whom he interacts with. ”Resist the urge to shalaye”.
